When I was a little boy I worked with my dad setting up mobile homes. We were working on a double wide with a shingle roof and using tar on the roof. As a 12 year old boy using tar you can imagine what I looked liked when we took a break for lunch. We went to a favorite sit down restaurant and I ordered deep fried shrimp and french fries. You know that a 12 year old boy doesn't really care how clean his hands are so I started gobbling down the shrimp and fries. The tar became loose and came off on my napkin. Since that time I use, are you ready for it? Vegetable oil. That's right plain old vegetable oil. 

I just got done patching my roof, I had tar on my hands and on the troll, I used cheap vegetable oil to clean my hands and my troll. It really works and it is safe and cheap. Some folks say to use gasoline or mineral spirits - check out the internet see what people say to use. I just searched using DuckDuckGo (my preferred search engine) nobody has vegetable oil as the solution.
